Please note: last access to the monument 45 minutes before closing time. Evacuation 15 minutes before closing time.

Closed on1 January,1 May and 25 December.

The ticket gives you access to the entire monument and its grounds.

  • On the first Sunday of each month from November to March inclusive

If the first Sunday of the month is a public holiday not worked on, the free travel is not carried over to the following Sunday.

Free admission applies only to the entrance fee. The various visitor offers (lectures and events) remain at the usual rates.

By car

From Paris, Lyon or Bourg-en-Bresse: A40, exit 10 "Bellegarde Pays-de-Gex"; RN206 towards Pays-de-Gex; D984 then D35 towards Ferney-Voltaire; From Lausanne and Geneva: A1, exit Ferney( vignette required on Swiss motorways).

Parking : Château de Voltaire car park (5-minute walk), Calas municipal car park (5-minute walk) or Bijou municipal car park (10-minute walk).All car parks are zoned blue (maximum parking time 4 hours).

By public transport

From Geneva Cornavin station: bus 60(TPG company) to Ferney-Mairie stop, then 5-minute walk. 

From Geneva international airport: bus 66(TPG company) to Ferney-Mairie then 5 minutes on foot. Regular bus no. 33 Divonne-Ferney-Bellegarde (Station) to Ferney-Mairie then 5 minutes on foot.

By train

Visit conditions

  • Duration of the visit: 1h30
  • Please note that the monument has no lockers or luggage lockers. Please note: the monument has no lockers or luggage lockers, so large bags and suitcases will not be accepted inside the estate.
  • Dogs are allowed on a lead in the park and in a carrier bag or in their arms in the château.
  • Pushchairs must be left at the entrance to the château (sensitive wooden floors). A baby carrier may be required.
  • Smoking and vaping are prohibited on the estate.
  • Food is not permitted inside the monument.
  • The estate is not accessible to under-16s unless accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • No flash photography permitted inside the château.

Services

  • Visit documents available in Arabic, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Romanian, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, Serbian, Portuguese, Polish, Albanian, Turkish.
  • A bookshop is located at the reception: it offers among other things books on the history of the monument, biographies, works by Voltaire, youth books, jewelry, stationery and toys. Some cold drinks are also on sale.
  • Picnic facilities in the park (alcohol not permitted) : garden tables are arranged in the regular garden, towards the Orangery and under the veranda.
  • Toilets (accessible to disabled visitors) with baby-changing facilities
  • Cycle parking at the entrance to the monument

Disabled access

  • Guide and/or assistance dogs are allowed in the castle.

Motor disability :

  • Reserved parking spaces 100 meters from the site entrance (indicated from the municipal parking below).
  • Ramp at the entrance of the ticket office allowing access to the estate.
  • Outdoor flooring (gravel) poorly adapted to wheelchair traffic.
  • A lift allows access to the garden level, ground floor and first floor of the monument: its access is carried out with the help of an agent.

Hearing disability :

  • Interactive terminals are present in the eight rooms on the ground floor.

Visually impaired :

  • Visit book of the castle and the park in large print available on request at the reception.
  • Tactile model with Braille legend of the castle in the 18th century.
  • Slight relief plan of the estate in the 18th century.
