The accessibility to the Chateau of Voltaire
Since 2018, thanks to the restoration project of the monument, the interior of the castle is accessible to people with reduced mobility. Tactile devices and interactive terminals have also been installed for the hearing and visually impaired.
The whole team is mobilized to continuously improve the quality of its reception and the devices dedicated to people with disabilities.

Parking
- 2 PMR parking spaces 100m from the entrance at the personal parking level
- 1 PMR parking at 200m on the municipal parking "Château de Voltaire" : the entrance of the castle is accessible from the parking thanks to a single storey driveway and the coating adapted to the passage of a wheelchair.
- Drop-off: access by car to the honour gate is possible for people needing to be dropped off as close as possible to the entrance (no parking possible).
Access to the monument
- A ramp for persons with reduced mobility allows access to the reception/shop, the orangery and the castle.
- Several facilities allow partial access to the park. The other paths of the park are covered with gravel, which can complicate outdoor strolling for chairs and strollers.
- Presence of 6 steps to reach the entrance gate of the castle.
- Entrance dedicated to people in wheelchairs through the entresol of the monument and access to the different levels by an elevator (with accompaniment by a staff member).
Good to know
- The entrance and exit of the monument are in the same place.
- The entire monument is accessible to people with reduced mobility. A lift located on the ground floor allows access to the ground floor and first floor.
- Guide and assistance dogs are allowed in all spaces.
- Handrails are present along all the stairs.
- Chairs are arranged in the rooms of the castle.
- Chairs and benches are arranged in the park.
- The toilets at the ticket office and on the ground floor are suitable for people with reduced mobility.
- It is advisable to provide support for wheelchair users, particularly at the park level.
Prices and tour offers
Individual
The entrance fee to the monument is free for self-guided visits for people:
- beneficiaries of the Adult Disabled Allowance (AAH) upon presentation of an AAH certificate less than 6 months old. (Paying companion)
- holders of a CMI Card (Inclusion Mobility Card) mentioned as «Disability» or «Priority» valid (or equivalent foreign certificate) or an organization certificate (groups). (only 1 free companion per person with a disability)
The parking card alone does not entitle you to free parking.
Groups
Free of charge applies to up to 8 people with disabilities (excluding companions). Reservation is mandatory, including for groups visiting the castle of Voltaire on a self-guided tour. The number of companions can vary depending on the type of disability and your needs.
- Self-guided tour: 20 € per group of 20 people
- Visit adapted to your needs: 40 € for a group of 20 people
- Workshop visit (thematic visit followed by a time in the workshop) : €60 per group of 20 people
NB: beyond 20 people, the rate is doubled.
Business tools
Tools and devices promoting the understanding and knowledge of the monument are offered to people with disabilities in order to improve the quality of their visit :
- Visit book of the castle and the park in large print available on request at the reception.
- Tactile devices throughout the course: Tactile model with Braille legend of the castle in the 18th century, slightly raised plan of the estate in the 18th century
