Presentation

On the occasion of the first Sunday of December, the castle of Voltaire opens its doors for free to all, and more particularly to the inhabitants of the territory! This day aims to strengthen the link between the monument and its territory, offering everyone to (re)discover this emblematic place of national heritage and the spirit of the Enlightenment.

The Ferneysiens and the Gessians will also be able to discover in preview the sumptuous Christmas decor imagined by the florist Pom'Violette for the second edition of "Noël au château"!

Program

Many activities will be offered throughout this day:

  • A Gourmet Christmas at the castle: During the entire month of December, the castle is adorned with its most beautiful attire and will immerse you in a Christmas full of delicacies thanks to the sumptuous decorations imagined by the florist Pom'Violette.
  • Opening of the mailbox of Santa Claus: the children of Ferney and the Pays de Gex are invited to come and drop off their letter to Santa Claus throughout the month of December at the castle!
  • A letter, 1 smile for Christmas: break the loneliness of elderly people in the department and recreate a bond by sending them a letter on the occasion of the end-of-year holidays! During a break in the castle park, take the time to write a few words to a senior to brighten his daily life. Throughout the month of December, the association’s mailbox will be present at the castle reception to welcome your kind letter to our elders!
  • Hot chocolate stand: to counter the cold weather of winter, the castle will offer you throughout the day the hot chocolate of Voltaire.
  • Free visits to explore the house and gardens of Voltaire.
  • Meetings with the monument team around conservation and mediation missions.
