Visitor facilities and advice

  • Guide dogs allowed.
  • Handrails are present on all internal staircases.
  • Accompaniment required for the visually impaired (not disabled).
  • Tactile and audio devices (tactile model with Braille legend of the 18th century château, light-relief map of the 18th century estate, large-print guide to the château and grounds available on request from reception, possibility of increasing the font size of each text in the terminals).

The self-guided tour

Visit tools freely available in the introductory rooms

  • A tactile model with a Braille legend of the 18th century château to give an idea of the layout and exterior and interior appearance of the residence (including decorative elements) as Voltaire knew it.
  • A light-relief map of the 18th century estate, showing its size, organisation and proximity to the village of Ferney and Geneva.
  • Touch-screen terminals in each room, with the option of enlarging the text size.

  • A large-print booklet to help you discover the château. Free, available from the monument reception desk.

Sensory tours

For groups

Take an audio-descriptive tour of the château and its collections with a château mediator, using touch and smell to explore different themes.

The monument's "Reservation" department can programme these tours at your request: dates and times to be agreed with you; must be booked in advance, for groups of 5 or more.

Free admission and guided tour for disabled visitors and their carers, on presentation of valid proof (Mobility and Inclusion card for French visitors), or organisation certificate (groups).
